NAEYC Accreditation of Early Learning Programs
Congratulations to the staff and administration on receiving NAEYC Accreditation renewal for our early learning programs. This is not an easy accreditation to receive and it requires hard work from everyone involved in our programs. Thank you to all involved.
Maynard has held NAEYC Accreditation for our Preschool and Kindergarten programs for many years which is a sign of a commitment to excellence. Most of the districts in our area do not NAEYC accreditation for their programs so this is something that our community can be very proud of.
Mathew D. Cox Memorial Scholarship
Mathew Cox, 23, of Maynard, passed away unexpectedly on March 29, 2017. Mat was educated through the Maynard school system and graduated in 2011. He worked as a chef at the Blue Coyote Grille in Maynard for several years and most recently at Battle Road Brewery in Maynard. He had a passion for cooking and loved his work. Every day was an adventure for Mathew. He lived life passionately and was always looking forward to life's next challenge.
For those of you who are looking for a way to honor the memory of Mathew D. Cox, a scholarship fund has been created for graduating Maynard seniors. The scholarship will benefit students who are pursuing a career in the culinary or hospitality field.

The 5th Annual Acton-Boxborough-Maynard PMC KIDS Bike Ride
This event will take place on June 4, 2017 from 8:30 – 12:00 pm at NARA Park in Acton. PMC KIDS Bike Rides became an official PMC program in 2005 as a way to include young cyclists in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge’s mission of raising money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. These rides enable children between the ages of 3 and 13 to ride their bikes and solicit sponsors to donate money to cancer research. 100% of all money raised at this event and by the children will go directly to Dana Farber via the PMC.
Last year we had almost 200 riders and raised over $30,000! The event will include the ride, food, multiple kid’s activities, a kid’s chance and silent auction! Green Meadow 2nd Grade Art Show
Green Meadow will be holding the 2nd Grade Art show at the Maynard Public Library. The opening reception will be held on Tuesday, May 16th @ 5:45pm-7pm but the art will be on display at the Maynard Public Library from May 15th through May 25th.

WE are hopeful that some of our 4th and 5th grade parents will step in to continue running MMA -Fowler as the 4th and 5th grade band program each approach 50 students!! MMA Senior Band/Chorus Banquet:
This year's banquet is set for May 29th at the Maynard Elks at 5pm. Tickets will be available at the MHS concert on the 17th and at Ensemble Night on the 24th.

1. Programs and Banquet Tickets: a volunteer is needed to distribute and collect programs the night of the MHS band and chorus concert and sell tickets for the Senior Music Banquet (5/17/17).
2. Programs and Banquet Tickets: Ticket sellers are also needed the evening of the Solo and Ensemble Night (5/24/17).
3. Memorial Day Parade Chaperones: Volunteers are needed for the Memorial Day parade to meet students in the band room, walk the parade route and distribute water (5/29/17).
4. Music Banquet Volunteers: Volunteers are needed the day of the banquet to set up, serve food and beverages, and clean up after the event (5/29/17).
5. Great East Festival/Six Flags for Grades 6 and 7: Chaperones are needed for this daylong event.

Summer Music Camp:
Trish Gately is offering her annual Summer Music Camp renamed Assabet Valley Summer Music 2017. Session 1: July 17th-21st and session 2: July 24th-28th. 2017-2018 BUS REGISTRATION
Bus registration for the 2017-2018 school year will begin on May 1, 2017.
NEW THIS YEAR: The deadline for registration is June 30. Registration hours on May 1 will be 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Registration will take place at the administrative offices at 3-R Tiger Drive. We are now located near the main office of the Fowler School. Forms will be available for download on our website starting April 28. No forms will be accepted until May 1. There is no fee increase this year. $270.00 for the first student; $220 for the second or more students. Late fee: $30.00 for registrations after June 30.
Note: if you have a student entering 7th grade at a distance of 2 miles or more, you must now pay the fee.
School Pesticide Notification
This notification is being sent to you in conformance with the Children’s & Families Protection Act (Chapter 85 of the Acts of 2000). The Act requires we notify you when pesticides are applied on the outside of public and private schools, day care centers and school age child care programs.
We are having Fowler School, 3 Tiger Drive and Green Meadow Elementary School, 5 Tiger Drive, treated with the Sentricon Termite Baiting System in response to the presence of termites. We selected this treatment method to reduce risk and hazard to our student population and staff. At various times during the course of the year, the Waltham Services Company may remove monitoring devices placed below ground in plastic holding stations and replace them with baits lethal to termites. The pesticide bait is non-volatile and not accessible or visible from above.
