Superintendent's Notes

WAVM TV/Radio Production Classes

This year the Town Administrator and Board of Selectmen were gracious in finding additional funding to hire a teacher at Maynard High School to run WAVM TV/Radio Production classes during the school day.  The teacher, Mr. John Ogden, has been working hard with our students on many Public Service Announcement competitions and we now have weekly newscast to share as well.

Below is a link to this week's broadcast:

Thank you to our Music Director and Students!

I received several correspondences from a colleague of mine who asked our Maynard Music Director and Maynard Students to perform at a program that she was coordinating for the Domestic Violence Services Network (DVSN).

These are the two emails she sent:

Dear Bob and Jen,

I want to thank you for all your "behind the scenes" assistance supporting last week's "Light in the Darkness" candlelight vigil, commemorating victims of domestic violence.  As I stated in the email to Cindy, the MHS students were just terrific.  I know that some juggling had to occur for a smooth use of the auditorium and I appreciate anything you did to assist this process.  The attendees were quite impressed with the high school, the auditorium, the cafeteria, and especially the students.

I also want to comment on the help we received as we were setting up.  Every one of the MPS employees there was so accommodating!  The entire experience reflected very positively on Maynard Public Schools.

Thanks again for all your help.  I hope to see you at the next GS-21 meeting!

Best regards,

Dear Cindy,

I want to thank you and your amazing vocalists for a tremendous performance at last week's DVSN "Light in the Darkness" Candlelight Vigil, commemorating victims of domestic violence.  The choice of songs and the way the students performed them were moving and inspiring.  You certainly showcased the strengths of the Maynard Public Schools music program, as well as your leadership and the talents of the students.  Many attendees commented on how much they were moved by the musical elements of the evening.

I know that you had to make adjustments to your schedule in order to make this event happen.  As a former teacher, I understand how difficult such adjustments can be at times.  However, I hope you know how much it meant to the attendees to hear the voices of the students and how much DVSN appreciates all you did to contribute to the event.

I wish you much success with your upcoming musical programs.
