Technology Survey Invitation
The District Technology Committee (Digital Learning) has been busy at work. Members have been excited about facilitating the implementation of the recommendations found in the District Technology Plan which was approved this past fall.
Again this year, the District has contracted with Bright Bytes, a well-respected national firm that has been helping us gather and analyze data. The suggestions made last year were very helpful and we continue to learn and grow from the feedback we receive. Students in grades 3-12 will be completing a brief survey this month.
We cordially invite parents to participate in the survey by going to www.BByt.es and entering the following access codes: for Green Meadow: 946AP; for Fowler BE97P; and for Maynard High School 8J2VP. Since the survey only takes five minutes, you may wish to complete a survey for each child, or if time constraints won't allow this, please consider completing a survey for your eldest child.

The Maynard Education Foundation’s mission is to financially support innovation in teaching for Maynard educators. Since 2001, MEF has awarded over $175,000 in grants. MEF grants have enabled students to visit the Christa McAuliffe Space Center, participate in anti-bullying initiatives, enjoy cultural performances and to use new materials and technology in their classrooms. MEF grants have enabled teachers to participate in creative writing workshops, introduce new activities and sports such as Tchoukball into the physical education curriculum, start a leveled library and lead biological studies of ecosystems. As one community member recently said "The Maynard Education Foundation adds a layer of quality to the Maynard public schools that has been invaluable to our kids' educational experience here."
Purchase tickets now to this food extravaganza. You’ll have an opportunity to taste wonderful food selections from many local food establishments, visit with old and new friends and support the Maynard Education Foundation! Visit our website at www.maynardeducation.org to learn more about the Maynard Education Foundation.

Important Events and Reminders:
In an effort to streamline the Superintendent’s Notes, I will provide important upcoming events or announcements that have already been posted in previous Superintendent’s Notes in this section.
"Most Likely to Succeed" Documentary
Members of the School Committee, administration and community attended a viewing of this documentary at Newton North High School. Similar to the Book Study we conducted with "The Smartest Kids in The World: and how they got that way (Riply,2012), this documentary forces us to reexamine the education our students will need and the education we should be delivering.
My colleagues, Bella Wong from Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School and Diana Rigby from Concord Carlisle Regional School System have decided that our three progressive communities should shared opportunities to have these types of thoughtful events. As a result we have scheduled an evening to view this documentary together at no charge.
On March 9th at 7:00 pm Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School will be hosting a viewing of the documentary "Most Likely to Succeed" for all of our communities to participate in. In an effort to track our attendance I would appreciate if interested participants would register in advance at this link:
Discovery Museum Speaker Series
The goal of this speaker series is to bring together expert voices for engaging dialogs with the community on matters of importance to children and families. I was invited to attend the recent speaker series presentation titled "Helping Children Succeed: Facilitating Children's Intrinsic Motivation in a Pressured World" by Dr. Wendy Grolnick Wednesday evening. I was so impressed by the quality of the presentation and the number of parents present. Her research on intrinsic motivation is one of the areas that the Maynard schools are investigating to support our students achievement.
