Superintendent's Report

Superintendent's Welcome

Good morning and welcome to the 2015-16 school year.  I hope that everyone had an opportunity to relax and recharge over the summer.

All of the staff are in the schools and preparing for the first day for students on Thursday, September 3rd, 2015.  I know that the principals have all sent out their welcome with building level details.  If you have any further questions about the upcoming year, please feel free to call the central office or school buildings as needed.

School Crossing Guard Needed

This position will be hired by the Maynard Police Department.  The position will be at the Maynard High School driveway from 7:00 - 8:00 am and 1:50 to 2:15 pm.  The compensation is $14.98 per hour (2 hours each day for 180 days).

If you are interested, contact Sgt. Balzotti at the Maynard Police Department at (978) 897-1011.

Important Events and Reminders:

In an effort to streamline the Superintendent’s Notes, I will provide important upcoming events or announcements that have already been posted in previous Superintendent’s Notes in this section.

Community Book Study/Summer Reading

If you haven't had a chance to read "The Smartest Kids in the World: and how they got that way" (Ripley, 2013),  I would encourage you to do so.  The Maynard Library has 10 copies available and we are planning a book discussion with the community in late September or early October.

We have created a survey for our community to share their thoughts on this book at the following link:

I believe that this survey will provide valuable community insight for the School Committee to review in the fall.
