Superintendent's Notes

The Maynard School Community Book Talk

This summer we provided copies of the book "The Smartest Kids in the World" (Ripley, 2013) to the Maynard Public Library. We encouraged our community to read this book in preparation of our discussions around the vision of Maynard Public Schools.

This Wednesday evening Jennifer Guadet held a community book talk in the Maynard High School Cafeteria.  I am pleased to report that more than 45 people were in attendance.  There were School Committee members, parents and staff from all of our schools.  I was able to help facilitate one of the table conversation and was even more pleased to find that some community members without children in the schools as well as some residents who have some children in charter schools and Maynard schools were participating.

The broad spectrum of ideas discussed will be extremely helpful as the School Committee continues there leadership of our district.
