Maynard School Committee Special Meeting for Community Budget Discussions
On Tuesday, February 25, 2014 the Maynard School Committee will be holding a special meeting for community budget discussions. This meeting will be held at the Fowler Library starting at 7:00pm.
The school committee has very difficult considerations to deliberate on around staffing, programs, and services that are currently offered in the Maynard Public Schools. This is an opportunity for community members to voice their opinions about potential reductions.

You're invited to a Celebration of Maynard Schools
Save the Date! On Saturday, March 29th, 10 AM to 11:30 AM, everyone is invited to join in a Celebration of Maynard Schools at Maynard High School, Tiger Drive. This exciting event is being presented thanks to collaboration between Maynard Public Schools, Maynard Education Foundation, Maynard Family Association and the Boys & Girls Club of Assabet Valley.
From 10 - 10:30 AM, tours of Maynard High School will be conducted by Maynard High School Students. From 10:30 - 11 AM, there will be a presentation for parents that will highlight the wonderful, competitive offerings being provided by the Maynard Public Schools, from pre-kindergarten through high school. From 11-11:30 AM, refreshments will be served and parents will have an opportunity to ask follow up questions of Maynard school professionals and receive additional information about the specific schools.
Bring your kids! Childcare will be available at this amazing event for children ages 2+. The Boys & Girls Club of Assabet Valley's professional staff and Maynard High School students and teachers will offer this service free of charge. Toddler/pre-school aged children will be engaged in a classroom set up just for the little ones. The gymnasium will offer structured games and activities for children in grades K+. Although new residents and parents of children ages 0-grade 4 are especially encouraged to attend this information packed event, we hope that all residents, young and old, will take advantage of this opportunity to come and learn more about Maynard Public Schools.

12th ANNUAL TASTE OF MAYNARD
The Maynard Education Foundation (MEF) is excited to sponsor its 12th Annual Taste of Maynard on Sunday, March 2, 2014, 4 PM to 7 PM at the Maynard Lodge of Elks, 34 Powdermill Road, Maynard. Restaurants will be serving appetizer, entree and dessert delicacies from 4-6 PM; entertainment will continue until 7 PM.
Every year, this is a “not to be missed” event, with the general public being encouraged to come and enjoy exceptional samples of food specialties from local food establishments in the Maynard, Acton, Stow, Concord, Hudson and Marlboro area. There will be a cash bar, entertainment by the local sensation "Shoot the Cat" and raffle/silent auction prizes. The Maynard Education Foundation’s mission is to financially support innovation in teaching for Maynard educators. Our goal is to create funds that will allow MEF to provide annual grants to teaching professionals. As we begin our 13th year, we have raised over $200,000 and have awarded grants totaling in excess of $140,000 to Maynard educators. These grants have been utilized for Innovation and Discovery endeavors that benefit Maynard children in the classroom. We specifically look for grants that will not only benefit the immediate children within a specific class but will become self-sustaining and benefit a much broader audience for years to come. It is crucial that our students be supported to increase their competitive advantage so they are prepared for the challenges of the twenty-first century.

The Boys State and Girls State Selections
This is an opportunity for Maynard High School students in the junior class. The American Legion and Auxiliary invite you to participate in the Massachusetts Boys State and Girls State selection process. Each year American Legion Posts and Auxiliary Units sponsor one or more high school juniors for the Boys State and Girls State citizenship program. This is a unique opportunity for young men and women from Maynard High School and Acton-Boxborough Regional High School to gather for a fun-filled week of exploring how our government works.
