Happy Thanksgiving to All!
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I can guarantee you that I will eat my share of the turkey! I also love Thanksgiving because after I go to the first half of the Maynard Football game, I go to the second half of the football game at the high school that I graduated from. It is a great time for me to reconnect with long time friends. Maynard has not had a home Thanksgiving Day game in five years so I hope to see a big crowd tomorrow!
If you are looking for exciting topics of conversation for your Thanksgiving meal or at the game, perhaps you would like to ask friends and family if they are interested in taking on a high school intern this spring. We are trying to place some seniors in the following fields for their Senior Projects: cosmetic dermatology, medical research (interest is stem cell research), veterinary, animation, and small business development. Even if you are in a different field of interest, we are always looking for a variety of career mentors for our students participating in the senior project. If you or friends are interested in being senior project mentors, please email Jean LaBelle at: email@example.com
Notice Regarding Students Walking from Green Meadow and Fowler by the New High School
There was a sidewalk on the right side of tiger drive where students from Fowler and Green meadow could walk in front of the old high school. Unfortunately that was not in the design of the new high school. I am concerned for student safety and would ask parents to remind their children that at this point they should use the path to the left of the sidewalk at its ending spot from Fowler. This side area to the neighboring street has always and will continue to be cleared for passage during inclement weather. We will be painting lines and put up signs to help guide the students but we would appreciate your help in reminding them.
As part of our district-wide initiative to promote social success for all students, we are pleased to announce a free workshop for parents. The objective of this initiative is to bring anti-bullying/social enrichment programs to students, school personnel and parents.
Dates: Wednesday, December 4, 2013 (7:00 to 9:00 PM) OR Thursday, December 5, 2013 (9:00-11:00 AM)
Location: Fowler School Auditorium
Presenters: Nadine Briggs (Simply Social Kids) and Donna Shea (Peter Pan Center)
In this seminar for parents, the presenters will share language and steps to improve the social lives of children and adolescents, and how to teach them strategies to address issues of bullying in their school environment. They will also address the key roles adults play in promoting positive social experiences for children and adolescents.
This workshop is open to the public.
